It is hard for me to imagine anything more exciting than establishing an engineering program from the scratch, especially in an area like Dera Ismail Khan where the people are so deeply committed to technical education and social development. The establishment of this engineering program will provide a unique opportunity for the people of Dera Ismail Khan and adjoining districts to have engineering education at their door steps. That is why it gives me immense satisfaction that I am part of the pioneering team of Qurtuba University who has taken the first step to establish this program at Dera Ismail Khan.
Public awareness for the need of engineering education has not been translated into reality for the last so many years. The Public Sector University and colleges of Dera Ismail Khan place strong focus on physical sciences, commerce, law, and other social sciences. In such a social context , the pioneer spirit of personalities involved is worth mentioning as they actually sensed the approach of time where engineering education was desperately needed, which has been considered the most difficult field of education in Pakistan, especially in southern part of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa for private sector university to manage. I, as Dean of Engineering, with all out support of the university authorities, worked hard to fulfill all the requirements of Pakistan Engineering Council, Islamabad and Higher Education Commission, Government of Pakistan. After having overcome many hardships, finally University was able to obtain permission to start classes in B.Sc Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering disciplines from Fall 2015 semester.
I congratulate the first batch of engineering students who are the luckiest out of more than fifteen hundred aspiring eligible candidates of the province, who strived to obtain admission in an engineering institution of province from D.I.Khan.
At the end, I thank and salute each individual of Qurtuba University who has contributed in the tireless efforts to turn this dream into reality.
